Gemma O’Brien is an internationally renowned designer and artist known for her bold graphics, calligraphy, and large-scale wall paintings. Her work has been commissioned by Apple, Nike, and Google and is held in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. Alongside her commercial illustration and brand collaborations, she explores language and elevates words into art through her studio practice. She is currently creating typographic illustrations for NASA and developing a 2027 solo exhibition informed by her neuroaesthetics research in London, with the aim of painting words from the inside out. Her next speaking engagement is at Haus der Kulturen der Welt for Forward Festival Berlin on 28 August 2026.
